The 100 Day Project - Week 2

Week has gone by already. I completed Katie Moody’s 30 days of sketchbook joy challenge. The challenge’s last day was on March 6th, which was the day of her book launch “Sketchbook Joy”. Real nice book by the way if you’re interested in sketch booking. Now I will have to work to get some inspirations to draw and not rely on someone else’s prompts.

Day 8, which was day 26 of Katie’s challenge, wildflowers, I decided to do the 10 most common wildflowers of southern Poland. My picture got in the 100 day project reel for day 8. That was cool to get more exposure. My most seen picture so far since the beginning of the project. I’m thinking of doing something with these in the future. We shall see..

Day 8

Day 9, or day 27 of Katie’s challenge was food packaging. I picked some Polish herbal raspberry tea. A quite busy package. I thought I would spend more time on the raspberries when I first started but I quickly ran out of patience.

Day 9

Day 10 and day 28 was pink background. I found this reference on Mapcrunch and thought it would be a good one over a pink background. Not sure if I like it so much.

Day 10

Day 11 was quick sparrows. I spent 5 minutes on each. I did one with colored pencils and one with markers. I think they came out pretty cute. It’s nice using a timer, doesn’t give you much time to think and you just do it.

Day 11 - marker

Day 11 - colored pencil

Day 12 and last day of Katie’s 30 day challenge. She ran a live session for the launch of her book. We did a reference from Cornwall I believe. Was real fun to do. I was trying to follow along and got lost in the middle section which is why it looks kind of weird. I really like how the texture of the grass came out on the right hand side.

Day 13, time for me to start picking out my references or decide what to draw. I went back to mapcrunch and found this real narrow road somewhere in England. I liked the tree on the left. However I’m still having a real hard time with perspective. I need also to swatch out all the greens I have or can make with the paints I have. I didn’t like what I had on hand, not very natural greens. I like how the textures came out though. The size I did wasn’t really good for Instagram, that’s why the picture looks the way it does, otherwise half of it was cropped out.

Day 14. Used the view of the day of mapcrunch. This time was some big houses on a street in Dresden, Germany. I really liked this window with the tall flowers growing in front of it as well as the fence of the house. I added some texture to the house walls so wouldn’t look so bland.

Day 14

Day 15. Went out today since the weather was nice. Sat outside and decided to draw part of this building that has a bistro. Was nice to be outside and do plein air. I’m trying to get used to doing so, always feel a bit self-conscious. I had a hard time starting out so I set a 10 minute timer and got going pretty quick. I had it all sketched out before the timer went off. I was surprised how much I can get done in 10 minutes! I like the way it turned out, still working on perspective. This one was easier than day 13.

Day 15

That’s all for this week, until next week!
